SAFe® Release Train Engineer ( RTE) Training

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is the Agile Release Train’s servant leader and coach (ART). The RTE’s primary function is to oversee the ART’s activities and procedures and provide support to the teams so that they may successfully deliver their results.

This intensive three-day training will teach you all you need to know to succeed as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) business. In this course, you will get hands-on experience facilitating and enabling end-to-end value delivery with Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and value streams. The primary facilitator of alignment throughout a SAFe company is the Program Increment (PI) planning event, in which you will learn how to design and execute in order to develop a high-performing ART.

SAFe® Release Train Engineer Training Over View

The SAFe® 5 Release Train Engineer curriculum delves into the knowledge and abilities required to support and allow end-to-end value delivery through Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and how to construct a high-performing ART by means of servant leadership and teaching (RTE).

A Program Increment (PI) planning event is the primary facilitator of alignment across all levels of a SAFe company, and in this course, participants will learn by doing how to prepare for, organize, and execute a PI planning event as part of a Lean-Agile transition.

An RTE’s five primary duties are as follows:

People – The release train engineer is responsible for ensuring that all employees and teams have a satisfying and productive time working together. They need to set the tone for effective teamwork and provide everyone with the direction they need to reach their objectives.

Coaching and education – The RTE is responsible for coaching and educating its teams, leaders, and scrum masters on the principles and practices of Lean and Agile management.

Program Increments – Incremental value in the form of fully functional and thoroughly tested software and systems is delivered via an Agile release train at regular intervals called Program Increments (PI). In the world of Agile software development, this is the same thing as an iteration.

Agile release train success indicators – Measures of success for an agile release train (ART) are tracked and reported by the RTE.
Release train engineers are also responsible for developing improvement roadmaps via the analysis of past actions and activities in order to identify areas for enhancement.

Improvement roadmap – The release train engineer must also create retrospective improvement roadmaps by analyzing all activities and actions that have previously been performed and finding ways to improve each process.
